Our client, NOW Canada Society, is a Kelowna-based organization dedicated to supporting women and families who are navigating complex challenges, including homelessness, poverty, addiction, mental health and trauma. Through a range of housing, support, wellness and community programs, NOW Canada provides practical support and opportunities that help individuals move toward greater stability and independence.
NOW Canada is looking for a dynamic temporary Director of Programs and Services to provide leadership, supervision and direction across its programs and frontline teams. Reporting to the Executive Director, this is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can build strong relationships, support the team and contribute to the continued development of the organization.
Working closely with the Executive Director and management team, you’ll help bring organizational priorities to life, support effective program delivery and contribute to the ongoing development of systems, processes and programming. Additional responsibilities will include:
- Providing leadership, supervision and direction to Client Support Workers, Family Support Workers and House Support Workers, including facilitating regular team meetings;
- Working with the Executive Director on recruitment, selection, onboarding and training of employees, as well as interviewing and supervising practicum students;
- Providing oversight and leadership for NOW Canada’s programs, including Essentials Day and Safe Homes, Hall Crossing Community, Follow-Care, Peer Mentorship, and Trauma Therapy;
- Supporting the development of new programs and the continued enhancement of existing services in response to organizational and community needs;
- Developing, reviewing and implementing policies, procedures, systems and processes in collaboration with the Executive Director;
- Working closely with program facilitators and trauma therapists to support effective and coordinated service delivery;
- Conducting tenant interviews for NOW Canada housing locations, in partnership with the Building Manager, as required;
- Collecting and providing program statistics and other information to support funding requirements and organizational decision-making;
- Participating in management meetings, organizational discussions and decision-making, and supporting the Executive Director with key organizational priorities;
- Providing leadership support to the Team Leader at the AG Safe Centre as needed.
Requirements
What You Bring:
We’re looking for someone who brings a combination of professional experience, people leadership and a genuine interest in helping organizations grow. You’ll ideally bring:
- A degree in Social Work or a related field;
- Experience supporting women who may be experiencing homelessness, poverty, addiction, mental health challenges, trauma or other barriers to stability;
- A trauma-informed approach and the ability to interact with residents with empathy, respect and appropriate boundaries;
- Previous management and supervisory experience in a related environment;
- Experience working with ALR requirements and regulations;
- Strong financial acumen, including an understanding of budgets, financial processes and resource management;
- Experience with QuickBooks and/or implementing financial or operational systems;
- Strong comfort with technology and an interest in using systems and tools to improve how work gets done;
- The ability to develop, implement and refine systems, processes, policies and procedures;
- A natural ability to lead and support change, with the communication skills to bring people along when new ideas, processes or priorities are introduced;
- Strong relationship-building and influencing skills, with the confidence to provide direction while maintaining positive working relationships;
- A collaborative leadership style and the ability to work closely with the Executive Director and management team to support organizational priorities;
- Excellent communication, organization and follow-through;
- A dynamic, adaptable and solutions-oriented approach, with the energy and initiative to take ideas from discussion through to implementation;
- A genuine commitment to the work of NOW Canada and the women and families it serves.

This is an approximately 6-month, full-time contract position, working 40 hours per week and reporting directly to the Executive Director. The salary range is $85,000 to $95,000 per year, based on a full-time annualized salary. This opportunity may evolve based on organizational needs and circumstances.
