Must Haves
- 10+ years hands-on DBA experience.

- Experience migrating end-of-life Oracle databases to the latest supported Oracle versions in both on-premises and cloud environments.

Project Description
APEX/ORDS Evergreening Initiative
The goal of the APEX/ORDS Evergreening initiative is to upgrade the complete technical stack supporting five Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks business-critical applications.
Current technologies include:
- Oracle Database
- Oracle APEX
- Oracle REST Data Services (ORDS)
- Red Hat Linux
These technologies are approaching or have reached end-of-life support and require modernization to comply with Ontario's Digital and Data Strategy.
Cloud hosting is part of the modernization roadmap.
Responsibilities
The Senior Database Administrator will:
- Create and implement physical database designs.
- Administer Oracle database management systems.
- Perform database optimization and capacity planning.
- Install, migrate, maintain, and monitor Oracle databases.
- Design, build, and configure Oracle database servers on:
- Windows
- Solaris
- Linux
- Support Oracle database versions:
- 10g
- 11g
- 12c
- 19c
- 23c
- Ensure performance and availability of:
- Oracle APEX databases
- Siebel databases
- Java application databases
- ArcGIS databases
- Implement security and auditing controls.
- Support new solution architecture and design activities.
- Lead Oracle migration initiatives to Oracle 19c or higher.
- Assist with data refreshes into lower environments.
- Resolve complex Oracle database issues.
- Support production and cloud-hosted environments.
- Assist with:
- TDE (Transparent Data Encryption)
- Oracle Data Guard
- Oracle RAC
- OMS
- OEM 13c
- Support replicated database environments and migrations.
- Document technical solutions and perform knowledge transfer activities.
- Identify, assess, and communicate technical risks.
- Develop mitigation and remediation strategies.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in database administration/analysis.
- Experience with one or more operating systems.
- Experience with Oracle database technologies.
