PROGRAM SUMMARY:
Better at Home is a province-wide initiative designed to help seniors remain independent at home and stay connected with their community. Better at Home supports seniors to age in place with dignity, stay socially connected and reduce social isolation, particularly among those seniors who are most vulnerable. The program recognizes that seniors play an integral and growing part in community and aims to help them with simple day-to-day tasks so they can remain living in their own home. The Better at Home program offers a range of non-medical support services such as light housekeeping, grocery shopping, minor home repairs, friendly visiting, snow shoveling, light yard work, and transportation to appointments. Services are delivered by volunteers and paid workers. Seniors are charged a fee for services on a sliding scale based on income.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Better at Home program is seeking a dedicated individual to fill a crucial role that contributes significantly to the success of our services. This position entails providing essential light housekeeping and laundry services to seniors who live independently in their own homes. More than just maintaining a clean environment, this role is about fostering meaningful social connections. It offers emotional support and companionship, which are just as vital as the practical assistance provided. The role includes a structured social connection component, which complements the housekeeping tasks by incorporating a system to monitor the health and well-being of our community's vulnerable seniors.
