Job Description:The Public Health Nurse (PHN), as an integral member of the Public Health Services team, provides nursing services within the framework of the Population Health Promotion Model and Primary Health Care. This employee works relatively independently and is expected to make primary decisions based on sound assessments in accordance with The Public Health Act, both regional and PHN specific policies and procedures, the CRNS Standards of Practice, the Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Nurses, the Community Health Nurses of Canada - Standards of Practice, and the PHN Discipline Specific Competencies. Knowledge, skills, and abilities specific to health promotions, prevention and protection are inherent in this role. This employee liaises with, and refers to, other health personnel, and other sectors and community groups.

Experience

  • Experience in public health and implementation of The Public Health Act, 1994
  • Three (3) years experience as a Public Health Nurse

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)

Licenses

  • Valid Class 5 driver's license

  • Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)
