What to expect:
The Project Manager is responsible for managing the complete project lifecycle of cross-functional projects, in alignment with PMO standards, methodologies, and governance. This includes liaising with stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget while maintaining high-quality outcomes. A critical component of the Project Manager’s role is to lead the people change management aspects of the program, after assessing implications of the project outcomes on the workforce. The PM will provide regular updates to all stakeholders, including formal reports to the PMO Manager, to communicate progress, highlight variances against the plan, and problem solve. The PM is responsible for overall project quality and alignment with the organization’s strategic plan.
This includes:
Project Management
- Coordinate with the PMO Manager to align resource availability and allocation as required (internal resources, contractors, and external vendors) for successful execution of projects.
- Lead project kickoff meetings and define clear roles, responsibilities, and expectations for project team members.
- Develop and manage detailed project plans, scopes, schedules, work breakdown structures, resource plans, budgets and progress tracking, in alignment with PMO templates and methodologies.
- Serve as primary point of contact for project updates across business units.
- Manage day-to-day project activities, remove roadblocks, and ensure project milestones are met.
- Facilitate regular status meetings and communicate risks, issues, decisions, and project progress to stakeholders and PMO leadership.
- Prepare executive level reporting aligned to PMO governance standards, depending on the project.
- Perform risk management to identify and minimize project risks early, and maintain mitigation or resolution plans, while taking proactive, corrective actions when necessary.
- Lead change control processes to manage scope modifications and evaluate impact to timelines, budget or outcomes within the project lifecycle.
- Deliver project work within scope, timeline and budget or provide detailed information to inform management when variations occur and cannot be course-corrected.
- Assess impacts on culture and leverage this change to support an enhanced employee value proposition.
- Develop internal and external communications to support the project.
- Lead the change management and other people impacts of the change.
PMO Alignment
- Aid in achieving PMO objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans, when applicable.
- Enhance department and organizational reputation by accepting ownership and exploring opportunities to add value.
- Contribute to PMO process improvements, lessons learned, and best-practice knowledge sharing.
- Support program/portfolio planning and prioritization activities by providing accurate project data.
Other duties as assigned.
This position reports initially to the Manager, Project Management Office but will be a dynamic position that will provide a diverse experience in a wide range of business lines within CWB Group. You will be working remotely from your home office with possible occasional travel to project locations across Canada. CWB has adopted a remote-first working model, where employees will work from their home office, servicing the client within their specified areas either remotely or in person. We are embracing radical flexibility, where employees are encouraged to work a schedule that works best for them, their team, and their clients.
What you bring to the table:
- Post-Secondary Education (e.g. College Diploma)
- 5 years progressive experience in Project Management
- Project management certification or working towards an accredited PM certification
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Collaborative, team-oriented mindset
- Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Adaptability and willingness to embrace change
- Strong writing and organizational skills
- Ability to see both the big picture perspective and pay scrupulous attention to detail
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, multi-task and meet deadlines
- Background in industry, preferably in welding, construction, or engineering an asset
- Experience working with senior management teams
- Microsoft Office skills
- Able to effectively deal with inquiries and concerns from all levels of staff
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- This is a remote, work from home position
- Travel within Canada may be required from time to time
The following qualifications are considered assets:
- University graduate strongly preferred

- Background in industry, preferably in welding, construction, engineering
