Patient Watch Attendant - Vancouver Coastal Health

Securicare is seeking Patient Watch Attendant to support our healthcare security operations in Gibsons & Sechelt within the Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) portfolio. In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring patients who require additional observation to ensure their safety and well-being. This position is critical in preventing falls, self-harm, and other incidents, while working closely with healthcare teams in a dynamic clinical environment. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to respond effectively in a variety of situations.

Pay: $22.50

Location: Sumac Place & Sechelt Hospital

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide continuous observation and monitoring of patients requiring additional support and supervision
  • Notify healthcare staff promptly of any changes in patient behaviour, condition, or safety concerns
  • Support patient comfort and assist with mobility or repositioning when required and directed
  • Communicate with patients in a respectful and reassuring manner to help maintain a calm environment
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of observations and activities
  • Work collaboratively with nurses, clinical staff, and healthcare teams to support overall patient care
  • Respond appropriately to patient needs, urgent situations, and emergency events
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and secure healthcare environment for patients, staff, and visitors
  • Respond to safety-related incidents, disturbances, or hazards within the healthcare setting
  • Use strong communication and de-escalation skills to help manage challenging situations professionally
  • Complete incident reports and documentation as required

What you bring

  • Valid Basic First Aid Certification (OFA 1)
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI/MOAB/MORB) training is considered an asset
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with diverse individuals
  • Previous experience in healthcare, patient support, security, or a related environment is considered an asset
  • Strong observation and problem-solving abilities with the capacity to remain calm under pressure
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and report writing
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare setting
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Post-secondary education in Healthcare, Community Support, Justice Studies, or a related field is an asset
