Perkins & Will is a multi-disciplinary design firm specializing in the design of public buildings and spaces, including recreation centres, libraries, academic facilities, corporate and commercial projects and transit projects. The studio consists of architects, interior designers and urban designers and places a strong emphasis on design excellence and sustainability. Within this body of work there is a strong emphasis on research and sustainable design; our research labs are continuously developing new knowledge to allow our creativity and curiosity to impact our projects and their communities.

Perkins & Will is looking for a transit architect who perform in a self-directed manner in all aspects of the building design process, including preparation of presentation materials, schematic design, design development and contract documents, model building, rendering and construction administration activities within an established budget, schedule, site and programmatic requirements.

As anArchitect IIwith the Perkins and Will team, you will:

  • Uses enhanced knowledge of project complexity to proactively contribute to the overall success of the team by adhering to firm and project goals and standards of excellence in design, execution, and living design.
  • Assists in generating creative and innovative design ideas, concepts, and solutions while participating as an integral member of the design team.
  • Generates drawings under supervision for schematic design, design development, and construction documents.
  • Performs product research and assists the team with material selections.
  • Exercises critical and creative judgment and design application skills in preparing client presentation materials.
  • Uses a creative approach to complete tasks and responsibilities on projects, within the scope of schedule and budget, in an organized, timely, and consistent way.
  • Self-checks work for accuracy, omissions, legibility, and for document compliance in accordance with the Project Delivery Manual.
  • Expresses curiosity about the world of design and the industry at large.
  • Takes increasing ownership on tasks within project teams and studio activities.
  • Participates in design reviews, charettes, and pin-ups.
  • Keeps open communication within team and with designated team leader.
  • Communicates ideas and thoughts in a way that inspires others.
  • Coordinates effectively with partners and consultants.
  • 3-5 years of experience (transit experience is considered an asset)

Licensure/Certifications/Education

  • Preparing for architectural license
  • Bachelor's degree in architecture or related discipline required

Our Studio:

We are steps away from many amenities and also easily accessible by bike, public transportation and car. The studio is open concept and represents our collaborative approach to our work. We are currently working 4 days in studio.
