We're Hiring: Part-Time Bookkeeper Location: Guelph, Ontario
Employment Type:Permanent Part Time. Remote Role.
Wage:$26 per hour Until Probation. $27 Pass probation
Reports to:Executive Director
Guelph Independent Living (GIL) is committed to supporting our clients to live with dignity by delivering quality programs, housing, and supportive services. We are looking for a detail-oriented, reliable Bookkeeper to join our team on a part-time basis and help keep our financial operations running smoothly.
About the Role
As our Bookkeeper, you'll be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting monthly reporting to our Board, and helping ensure our financial processes run efficiently. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys detail-driven work, data driven geek and wants to contribute to a mission-focused, community-based organization.
What You'll Do
- Enter financial data and support preparation of monthly financial statements for the GIL Board
- Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries
- Reconcile bank accounts monthly and process bank deposits
- Administer the bi-weekly cheque run
- Review payroll activity to ensure accurate reporting to funders
- Manage inter-company charges (payroll, audit, insurance, and Executive Director fees)
- Maintain worksheets for Endowment, transportation, and fundraising charges
- Coordinate charitable donation receipts and deposits with GIL staff
- Review vendor contracts annually and recommend cost-saving opportunities
- Take on other bookkeeping or administrative tasks as needed
What We're Looking For
- Post-secondary education or equivalent experience in bookkeeping or accounting
- Hands-on experience with accounting software, payroll, and bank reconciliations
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Comfort managing recurring monthly and bi-weekly deadlines
- Discretion with confidential financial information
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with our Executive Director, Board, and staff
- Experience with non-profit or funder financial reporting is an asset
