Role overview

Position

As a Senior Staff Accountant, you will play a key role in leading assurance engagements, managing client relationships, mentoring junior team members, and delivering high-quality accounting and advisory services.

RequirementsJob Responsibilities

  • Lead compilation, review, and audit engagements for private companies and not-for-profit organizations.
  • Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with ASPE and CSRE 2400.
  • Review corporate income tax (T2) returns and supporting working papers.
  • Ensure engagements are completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with professional standards.
  • Manage multiple client engagements while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality standards.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships by serving as a trusted advisor.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and mentorship to junior accountants.
  • Assist with client onboarding and implementation of accounting processes and systems.
  • Identify opportunities to improve internal processes and increase efficiencies.
  • Stay current with changes in accounting standards, tax legislation, and emerging technologies.
  • Collaborate with partners and team members to deliver exceptional client service.

Job Qualifications

  • CPA designation or currently in the final stages of obtaining your CPA designation.
  • Minimum 2 years of public accounting experience with audit and assurance responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • ASPE
  • CSRE 2400
  • Corporate Tax (T2)
  • HST
  • Payroll
  • Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements.
  • Familiarity with corporate structures and articles of incorporation.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong client relationship and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience mentoring junior staff is considered an asset.
  • Experience with CaseWare, TaxPrep, and Microsoft Office.
  • Valid Ontario driver's license and willingness to travel within the GTA when required.
