Automation Technician – Niagara region, ON

We are currently hiring an Automation Technician for a full-time, permanent opportunity in the Niagara region, ON.

Shift: Straight Days (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
Salary: $80,000 – $95,000/year
Overtime: Straight-time premium for any hours worked beyond 43 hours per week

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and maintain PLC, HMI, and industrial process control systems.
  • Develop, modify, and improve automation programs and operator interfaces.
  • Design and implement upgrades to existing control systems.
  • Support automated manufacturing processes to improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Work closely with maintenance, production, and engineering teams.
  • Participate in on-call support for critical equipment and occasional after-hours commissioning.

Qualifications:

  • Experience programming Allen-Bradley, ControlLogix/RSLogix, Siemens, Wonderware, and FactoryTalk.
  • Electrician License (309A or 442A) or PLC certification is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of industrial automation, PLCs, HMIs, and control systems.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints, and pneumatic/hydraulic diagrams.
  • Knowledge of SCADA, MS Office, MS Access, CAD/CAM, and industrial networking.
  • Experience with communication protocols such as Remote I/O, Modbus TCP/IP, Ethernet, and TCP/IP.
  • Familiarity with VFDs and motor control systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with SQL databases, MS Access reporting, and PC-based relational databases is considered an asset.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with a strong focus on safety, innovation, and continuous improvement.
