Role overview
Our client, a global industrial manufacturer, is seeking a Controls & Instrumentation Engineer to support automation, process control, and continuous improvement initiatives across multiple manufacturing operations. This remote role can be based anywhere within the company's North American operating footprint and offers the opportunity to work on complex industrial systems while collaborating with cross-functional teams across Canada, the U.S., and internationally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, program, and maintain industrial control and automation systems.
- Support PLC, HMI, SCADA, DCS, and Advanced Process Control (APC) applications.
- Optimize plant performance through control loop tuning, instrumentation, and process improvements.
- Support and expand industrial data historian and operational technology (OT) systems.
- Partner with operations, engineering, project teams, and external vendors on capital projects and plant optimization initiatives.
- Develop and maintain instrumentation, automation, and control system standards across multiple facilities.
- Identify and implement innovative automation and data analytics solutions.
Qualifications:
- Engineering degree with a focus on controls, automation, instrumentation, or a related discipline.
- 6+ years of controls, automation, or process engineering experience within heavy industrial or process manufacturing environments.
- Experience with PLCs, DCS, HMI/SCADA, industrial networking, and process control systems.
- Experience with industrial data historians is considered an asset.
- Ability to travel up to 25% throughout North America, with occasional international travel.
