Role overview
Park Paving Ltd. has been locally owned and operated for over 50 years as one of the largest road construction contractors in Edmonton, and we are looking for a SEASONAL DISPATCHER to join our TRANSPORTATION DIVISION for the upcoming construction season.
This is a full-time seasonal position based out of Sherwood Park, Alberta. The position operates on a 6-day work week, Monday to Saturday, with shifts typically ranging from 8 to 10 hours per day. This role offers a competitive wage with benefits.
The primary duties for this position will include, but are not limited to:
- Dispatch company trucks and subcontracted trucks to various job sites, pits, plants, and customer locations.
- Coordinate daily trucking requirements with supervisors, foremen, drivers, customers, and other internal divisions.
- Track truck locations, load counts, material movements, delivery times, and job progress throughout the day.
- Communicate schedule changes, delays, breakdowns, and site-specific instructions to drivers and field staff.
- Prepare and maintain accurate dispatch records, trucking tickets, time records, load information, and other required documentation.
- Assist with organizing trucking resources to meet production needs and project schedules.
- Monitor driver availability, truck utilization, and daily trucking requirements.
- Support the Transportation Division with general administrative tasks as required.
- Ensure all dispatching activities are completed in a safe, efficient, and professional manner.
- Maintain a positive and respectful working relationship with drivers, supervisors, customers, and coworkers.
Requirements
- Previous dispatching experience is considered an asset.
- Experience in trucking, construction, aggregates, asphalt, concrete, or related industries is considered an asset.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with changing priorities.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Comfortable using phones, computers, email, spreadsheets, and dispatch-related systems.
- Ability to work long hours during the construction season.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work Monday to Saturday.
- Familiarity with construction equipment & road permits an asset.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License is considered an asset.

Pay Scale: $23.00 - $26.50 per hour based on experience

Successful candidates must have a driving record free of major infractions, and must pass a medical/fitness exam, as conditions of employment.
