Applications are invited from teachers with

BCCertification for the following teaching position:

Port Hardy Secondary School, Port Hardy,BC

0.57 FTE Temporary – French 8 and French 9-12

(two blocks each semester)

Commencing: September 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027

or return of the incumbent, whichever comes first

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • completion of a Bachelor of Education;
  • certification by or eligible to become BC certified by the BC Teacher Certification Branch;
  • academic training, qualifications and recent successful experience teaching secondary level French;
  • strong classroom management skills;
  • the ability and energy to work with multi-age groups and meet the needs of students with a range of learning styles and abilities using a variety of teaching strategies;
  • the ability and desire to work closely with staff in a team-oriented approach to teaching and learning;
  • strong organizational, interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills;
  • strong interest in innovation and inquiry; and
  • ability to embed local Indigenous culture and ways of knowing into teaching practices.

This position is eligible for a pre-employment signing bonus of$2,850in return for a successful candidate accepting a job offer for this position.Note: Candidates are not eligible for the aboveifthey were previously paid a pre-employment hiring incentive for a teaching positioninthe K-12 sector (in the 2023/2024, 2024/2025 or 2025/2026 school years under the provincial hiring incentives program).

The starting annual salary for a full-time School Teacher position ranges from $66,299 to $116,016, with placement in the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. The Remote Recruitment and Retention allowance is available for SD85 teachers payable at $3,126 over ten months.
