Role overview

Who we are:

Fairstone Bank and its family of brands are united in delivering innovative, accessible and reliable financial solutions that enable Canadians to reach their goals. Over the years, our brand family has grown. In 2024, Home Trust Company, Home Bank and Oaken Financial became part of the Fairstone Bank family of brands, alongside Fairstone, EdenPark and Fig.

Together, we are the leading alternative lending bank in Canada. We have the collective experience and expertise to better serve our customers and foster our partners’ growth. With a diverse suite of products—residential and commercial mortgages, consumer deposits and GICs, credit cards, retail and automobile financing, personal loans and digital lending—we offer financial solutions tailored to all Canadians, including newcomers, small-business owners, smart investors and savvy consumers.

The Role:

Reporting to the VP Marketing, as the Director of Marketing, Direct Lending, you’ll be the strategic marketing leader working with the Direct Lending Business to deliver the annual business targets and priorities. You’ll own the full go-to-market strategy for our lending portfolio, working closely with Digital Marketing and Creative Services to drive transformation across key channels, and deliver annual business targets through innovative, data-driven marketing programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership & Partnership
  • Co-create and lead the Direct Lending Pod, working with the Analytics and Direct Lending business owner to formalize the model and collectively drive the growth agenda for the portfolio
  • Translating business goals into actionable marketing strategies, identifying key resources and executional requirements
  • Influence product development and customer experience through market insights and customer feedback, bringing innovative ideas and solutions to the table.
  • Manage a high-performing team of marketers, providing ongoing coaching, feedback and development opportunities.
  • Go-To-Market Ownership
  • Lead the development and execution of integrated go-to-market plans for new and existing lending products.
  • Ensure alignment across brand, digital, and sales enablement teams to deliver cohesive campaigns that drive results.
  • Performance & Growth
  • Own the marketing contribution to annual lending business targets, with laser focus on the delivery of qualified leads that generate growth in net new cash.
  • Use data and analytics to optimize performance and inform future strategy, facilitating ongoing investment shifts to maximize outcomes.
  • Channel Transformation
  • Lead the modernization of the Direct Mail program, right-sizing the channel while also simplifying the production model.
  • Lead the evolution of the Affiliates relationships to foster a strong sense of partnership and commitment to delivering Fairstone business results.
  • Explore and scale new channels to reach target audiences effectively, working closely with channel specialists to identify new opportunities.

What we’re looking for:

-

10+ years of progressive marketing experience, ideally in financial services or a regulated industry.

-

Proven success in leading go-to-market strategies and delivering measurable business results.

-

Deep understanding of lending products and acquisition marketing.

-

Experience transforming traditional marketing channels (e.g., Direct Mail) into modern, data-driven programs.

-

Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

-

Analytical mindset with a passion for testing, learning, and optimizing.
