Property Law is looking to add a new Trademark Agent and Lawyer to its
team!
Our ideal candidate will be a member in good standing
of a Canadian law society, preferably in Ontario or Alberta, and a fully
registered Canadian trademark agent. U.S. trademark experience or experience
handling foreign trademark matters would be an asset. We are looking for someone
business-savvy with a keen understanding of our clients’ branding needs. They
should be creative and an excellent writer, with the ability to craft inventive
and persuasive arguments in a clear writing style.

Canada. We specialize in providing creative protection for our clients’ IP
portfolios in industries such as biotechnology, telecommunications,
pharmaceuticals, software and more. However, we don’t care for the pomp and

The Opportunity
- Draft and negotiate trademark-related
agreements such as assignments, licences, coexistence agreements, distribution
agreements, and commercial IP clauses
- Manage
communications with clients, foreign associates and CIPO regarding the
filing, prosecution, registration and management of clients’ trademarks
- Advise
on Canadian trademark opposition proceedings, section 45
expungement/cancellation proceedings and appeal-related work, and coordinate
foreign contentious trademark matters
- Develop
trademark strategies with clients, including protection, enforcement and
commercialization strategies
What You Will Bring
- Juris Doctor or equivalent legal
degree, and membership in good standing with a Canadian law society
- 5+
years of trademark prosecution and portfolio management experience as a
registered Canadian trademark agent
- Well
versed in CIPO procedures
- Able
to manage and meet tight deadlines
- Excellent
written and verbal communication skills
- Bilingualism
in French and English is an asset
- Experience
handling foreign trademark matters, particularly U.S. trademark matters,
would be an asset
