Job Summary:

The Processing Center Advisor serves as a Post-Payment Verification Analyst responsible for ensuring the accuracy, accountability, and integrity of government-funded child care programs. This role involves reviewing funding claims and supporting documentation, analyzing financial and operational data, interpreting policies, and communicating with stakeholders to support program compliance and accountability. The advisor works primarily remotely with occasional on-site attendance and contributes to risk-based reviews and process improvements.
Responsibilities:

  • Review funding claims and supporting documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Analyze financial, operational, and program information to identify discrepancies or issues.
  • Interpret and apply legislation, policies, procedures, guidelines, and funding agreements.
  • Validate information from operators and stakeholders using multiple sources.
  • Calculate adjustments, recoveries, overpayments, or other financial impacts as required.
  • Prepare correspondence, summaries, reports, findings, recommendations, and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records, working papers, and electronic files.
  • Communicate professionally with operators and stakeholders regarding documentation and review outcomes.
  • Support resolution of discrepancies and escalate complex issues when necessary.
  • Identify recurring issues, trends, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Participate in risk-based review and monitoring activities to support program accountability.

Required Skills & Certifications:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify discrepancies and assess complex information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Experience conducting compliance reviews, monitoring, quality assurance, or similar verification activities.
  • Experience calculating recoveries, adjustments, overpayments, or other financial impacts.
  • Proficiency with case management systems, databases, records-management systems, or similar applications.
  • Experience in risk-based review, monitoring, assessment, or audit-related activities.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience with MS Office Suite, especially Excel and Outlook.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience with accurate data processing and data entry.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience working in government or highly regulated industries with complex policies.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience working with clients/stakeholders to gather and analyze business data.
  • Successful completion of mandatory training including Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, Security/Cybersecurity, Information Management, and Respect in the Workplace.
  • Criminal record check clearance prior to commencement.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

  • Post-secondary education in business administration, accounting, or finance (degrees, diplomas, or certificates).
  • Experience with financial reporting and ensuring accuracy and reliability of financial statements.
  • Experience within Canadian Public Sector organizations.
  • Experience working with childcare grant funding programs in Alberta.

Special Considerations:

  • Must reside in Edmonton or within approximately one-hour driving distance to accommodate up to 10% on-site attendance.
  • Remote work must be performed within Alberta.
  • Position requires adherence to government security and privacy policies.
  • Must maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Use of government-provided laptop and access credentials is required.
  • Compliance with conflict of interest attestation and other contractual obligations.

Scheduling:

  • Standard work hours: Monday through Friday, 8:15 AM to 4:30 PM Alberta time.
  • One-hour lunch break daily.
  • Holidays observed as per provincial schedule.
