Job Description:This is a specialist position. The social work incumbent will be required to use high order knowledge and clinical expertise and strong interpersonal skills to research, develop, implement and evaluate programs directed at youth in the Young Offender system. The program will be integrated with other key community/government agencies in the former Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region and Southern Saskatchewan. "Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement"

Experience

  • 3 years of clinical exp. in a mental health, working w/ high risk forensic youth

Education

  • Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)
  • Master of Social Work (MSW)

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Experience in clinical program development and evaluation
  • Ability to design and conduct in-service training for other professionals
  • Working understanding of the Mental Health Services Act and related legislation
  • Ability to identify, collect, analyze data & provide reports on program outcome
  • ability and willingness to travel within service delivery area
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of normal child & adolescent development & psychopathology
  • Advanced skills in teaching, supervision and community consultation.
  • Experience working w/in a multisectoral framework, work independently & in a team
  • Knowledge of aboriginal health issues, culture and traditions
  • Advanced knowledge of best practices of assessment, treatment & case management
  • Superior knowledge of criminogenic factors in juvenile offending
