Job Summary:
The Senior Applications Architect is responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of scalable and secure application architectures. This role involves engaging multiple stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions that incorporate information architecture, data modeling, cloud-native technologies, AI-driven data analysis, and microservice architectures. The architect will ensure alignment with enterprise standards and governance while driving adoption of emerging technologies in a public sector environment.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of application architectures and scalable data pipelines.
- Engage and facilitate collaboration among stakeholders across I&IT solutions, security, privacy, and accessibility domains.
- Design and implement cloud-native solutions leveraging Azure App Services, RESTful APIs, and microservice architectures using containers such as Tanzu.
- Utilize AI techniques including prompt engineering, machine learning literacy, automation, and generative AI for advanced data analysis and workflow automation.
- Develop architectural artefacts and documentation to support project governance and review processes.
- Apply structured methodologies for systems analysis, design, and integration in large-scale environments.
- Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and trends to inform architecture strategy.
- Support public sector enterprise architecture governance, standards, and compliance requirements.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- 5+ years of experience in application and database development and implementation.
- Proven expertise in engineering scalable data pipelines using Databricks.
- Strong knowledge of information architecture, data modeling, and BI analytics.
- Experience with AI-driven data analysis including prompt engineering, machine learning concepts, automation of ETL processes, and generative AI techniques.
- Hands-on experience with cloud-native technologies, microservice architecture, RESTful APIs, and container platforms such as Tanzu.
- Proficiency with Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools like PowerDesigner and Visio.
- Experience in multi-platform environments, various operating systems, programming languages, database technologies, and communication protocols.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, facilitation, and negotiation skills.
- Experience with public sector enterprise architecture governance, Target State Architecture (TSA), and GO-ITS standards.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience with modular and composable application architectures.
- Knowledge of omni-channel delivery of government services.
- Experience implementing and adopting data mesh storage solutions.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure design and cloud management tools including DevOps and collaboration platforms.
- Experience in supplier management and documentation best practices.
Special Considerations:
- Assignment requires onsite presence for 5 days.
- Must comply with public sector governance and security standards.
