Lead Building Operator

Our client is a well-established, privately owned commercial real estate company with a portfolio of distinctive heritage properties across Toronto. They are seeking an experienced Lead Building Operator to oversee four brick-and-beam commercial buildings. Your Role
Reporting to the Property Manager and working closely with senior leadership, you will oversee the daily operation of four commercial properties located between downtown Toronto and St. Clair Avenue.
You will troubleshoot building issues, coordinate contractors and preventative maintenance, respond directly to tenants and ensure each property is operating and presented to a high standard. You will also lead a junior operator and cleaning team, issue purchase orders, approve completed work, manage invoices and support BOMA BEST initiatives and onsite construction activity.
The buildings have relatively straightforward systems, including rooftop HVAC units, hot-water boilers, perimeter heating, pneumatic controls and, at one property, a cooling tower and heat-pump system. While outside trades handle much of the specialized maintenance, you must be technically capable and willing to be hands-on.
What Sets You Apart

You are an experienced Building Operator with approximately 5 years of commercial building experience and a strong understanding of building operations. You are calm under pressure, able to troubleshoot problems methodically and comfortable taking an issue from initial diagnosis through contractor coordination and completion.

You are also a strong communicator who enjoys working directly with tenants. You are reliable, proactive and comfortable operating independently while leading others and making sound decisions about maintenance priorities and spending.

The position is Monday to Friday with no formal on-call rotation, although assistance is expected for major emergencies.

Compensation
Expected base salary of $78,000 to $85,000 per year. Our client also offers 100% employer-paid health benefits, 3 weeks' vacation, and the opportunity to build a long-term career.
