Civil and Building Estimator

Estimating Department | Civil & Building Sector | Full-time, permanent

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

-

Reporting to the Estimating Director (Civil & Building), you will:

-

Participate in preparing proposals alongside estimators from other disciplines;

-

Analyze plans, specifications, and contractual requirements to identify risks and opportunities;

-

Assess subcontracting needs and coordinate external estimates;

-

Source, solicit, and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors;

-

Negotiate prices and maintain a database of specialized partners;

-

Plan work methods and propose cost-optimization solutions;

-

Calculate quantities, labor costs, and project costs;

-

Participate in developing preliminary budgets and schedules;

-

Prepare and compile the required tender documents.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

-

College diploma (DEC) or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Building, Construction, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;

-

2 to 3 years of experience in a similar role;

-

Excellent ability to read plans and specifications;

-

Good knowledge of estimating techniques and the tendering process;

-

Knowledge of TPL estimating software (an asset);

-

Ability to thrive in a dynamic, collaborative environment;

-

Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
