Director of Housing & Community Support Services

The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul of Vancouver Islandis looking for an energetic and creative Community Support Worker to join the collaborative and welcoming team at theFrederic Ozanam Centre. In this role you will work in our Community Inclusion Program for adults with diverse abilities.

The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul is seeking an experienced and values-driven Director of Housing & Community Services to provide strategic and operational leadership for a diverse portfolio of housing, supportive housing, property management, and community support services.

Reporting to the Executive Director, this senior leadership position is responsible for overseeing a housing portfolio of 128 units, including a mix of Residential Tenancy Act (RTA), Rent Geared to Income (RGI), and Low-End Market (LEM) housing, while leading community support and housing support services that assist vulnerable individuals and families throughout the community. The position provides leadership to two direct reports and an overall team of approximately 13 employees across housing and community support programs.

We are looking for a collaborative, strategic, and relationship-focused leader who is passionate about creating positive community impact through housing and support services. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable working at a strategic level with funders and stakeholders while supporting managers and teams in day-to-day operations.

About the Role

This position provides strategic and operational leadership for:

• Housing operations and property management
• Supportive housing and community support services
• Strategic planning and program development
• Community partnerships and stakeholder engagement
• Financial and resource management
• Leadership and development of management staff

Key Responsibilities

• Lead strategic planning and operational oversight for housing and community services programs.
• Provide direction and support for housing operations, tenancy management, occupancy, maintenance planning, and property performance.
• Support long-term asset management and capital planning initiatives.
• Ensure programs operate in compliance with funding agreements, legislation, organizational policies, and best practices.
• Monitor program outcomes, service utilization, financial performance, and operational effectiveness.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with BC Housing, Island Health, municipalities, government ministries, funders, and community partners.
• Identify opportunities for program enhancement, partnerships, funding, and service expansion.
• Develop and oversee departmental operating and capital budgets.
• Foster a collaborative, accountable, and supportive workplace culture.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Social Work, Human Services, Community Social Services, Non-Profit Management, or a related field.
• Minimum five years of progressive leadership experience in social services, supportive housing, homelessness services, community programs, or a related sector.
• Experience managing multiple programs, service areas, or operational portfolios.
• Experience supervising managers and multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong understanding of supportive housing, housing stability programs, community-based services, and government-funded social service programs.
• Working knowledge of affordable housing operations, property management principles, tenancy practices, maintenance planning, and asset management.
• Previous experience with grant writing and/or supporting philanthropic and fundraising initiatives is considered an asset.
• Experience managing budgets, contracts, funding agreements, and community partnerships.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
