Our client is a leader in the mining and infrastructure industry, with a strong focus on productivity and sustainability. Their advanced engineering division, based in Metro Vancouver, specializes in designing and developing heavy-duty battery-powered electric drive systems and supporting infrastructure. The team is dedicated to creating proprietary EV components at the PCB level and delivering complete turn-key systems, including battery packs, vehicle structures, a world-leading dyno, and proprietary firmware and control systems for drive motors, chargers, controllers, DC/DC converters, and battery management systems.

Job Description:

We are looking for a talented Electrical Engineer to contribute to the development and optimization of next-generation battery-electric mining equipment. This role will involve working with electrical systems, power distribution, and control circuits to create innovative solutions for a rapidly evolving industry. The ideal candidate will be a problem-solver with a passion for clean technology and a desire to tackle complex engineering challenges.

Role and Responsibilities:

Design and develop electrical systems for battery-electric vehicles (BEVs), including power distribution and control circuits.
Create and analyze electrical schematics and layouts for integration into vehicle systems.
Assist in the routing and integration of wire harnesses and electrical components.
Collaborate with mechanical engineers to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems.
Support prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical components and systems.
Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical documentation for manufacturing.
Research and source electrical components, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Assist in the development of battery management systems (BMS) and vehicle control systems.

Skills and Qualifications:
Must-Have:

Electrical engineering degree or equivalent.
Strong understanding of electrical circuits, power distribution, and control systems.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
Strong documentation and organizational skills.
Effective communication skills to work within a multidisciplinary team.

Nice-to-Have:

Experience with SolidWorks Electrical, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar CAD tools.
Proficiency in designing and troubleshooting electrical schematics.
Knowledge of high-voltage systems and battery technologies.
Experience with motor control systems and power electronics.
Understanding of electrical safety standards and compliance requirements.

To really impress:

Hands-on experience with BEV systems and components.
Knowledge of CANbus communication and embedded control systems.
Prototyping and testing experience with electrical and electronic systems.
Experience with mining equipment or heavy-duty industrial vehicles.
Experience with firmware and control systems development.

Compensation and Benefits:

$95K-$120K depending on experience.
