About the Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated and client-focused Employment Lawyer with 3–5 years of call to join our growing practice in Calgary. This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer passionate about employment law seeking to build a rewarding practice in a collaborative and entrepreneurial environment.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Advise employees on a broad range of workplace matters.
- Handle wrongful dismissal, constructive dismissal, human rights, employment standards, and restrictive covenant matters.
- Review employment agreements, workplace policies, executive compensation agreements, and severance packages.
- Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, arbitrations, and litigation before the courts and administrative tribunals.
- Conduct legal research and prepare pleadings, briefs, and other legal documents.
- Manage files independently while working collaboratively with colleagues when appropriate.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships and contribute to business development initiatives.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate must have:
- 3–5 years of call and membership in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta (or eligibility for admission).
- Experience practising employment law, including advocacy experience.
- Excellent drafting, analytical, and legal research skills.
- Strong oral and written communication abilities.
- Exceptional organizational and file management skills.
- The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
- A client-focused approach with sound judgment and attention to detail.
