Role overview

EIPS is recruiting a Senior Project Manager for our Facility Services department, to drive the successful planning, coordination, and execution of crucial Facility Services projects across our school division. Balancing provincial code compliance with fiscal accountability, you will serve as the technical lead and organizational bridge between design consultants, construction contractors, school administrators, and government bodies.

At Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS), we serve roughly 17,750 students across 43 diverse schools in a division that spans across urban schools in Sherwood Park and Fort Saskatchewan, to rural schools as far as Vegreville. Based out of our Central Services office in Sherwood Park, you will join a highly integrated school division supported by 190 dedicated professionals.   • Commencing September 1, 2026
  • 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day)
  • $41.55 – $51.91 per hour PLUS a comprehensive benefit package (including health, dental, flexible spending account and Pension Plan)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Project Leadership & Execution: Lead capital construction and facility modernization portfolios from concept planning and design requests through to public tendering, construction, and final warranty phases.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance: Conduct rigorous site inspections and hazard assessments to keep our facilities safe and functionally aligned with provincial building codes and regulations.
  • Financial Stewardship: Manage project budgets, spending authorities, evaluate change orders, and optimize resource allocation.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Build relationships with internal EIPS teams, school administrators, engineers, architects, Alberta Education, and Alberta Infrastructure.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Oversee maintenance of project records, manage Facility Condition Assessment (FCA) logs, and deliver data-backed feasibility reports.

QUALIFICATIONS

ProfessionalDesignation:Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) designation or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a highly valued asset.

Education: A technical diploma in Architectural, Construction, or Engineering technology.

Experience: A minimum of 5 years (7+ preferred) of direct, progressive experience managing infrastructure and capital building projects.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience in public tendering, procurement, and construction management.
  • Strong knowledge of provincial building codes, regulations, and construction practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, project management software, web-based applications, and emerging technology.
  • Attention to detail and advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Able to prioritize work and establish schedules to meet budgets and project deadlines.
  • A collaborative team player who communicates clearly, solves unexpected site challenges with agility, and works independently with minimal direction.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.

Required: Valid Alberta Driver’s License in good standing as per the requirements of EIPS’s Vehicle and Equipment Operating Manual and access to a reliable vehicle.
