Application Support Specialist - Trading Technology

Montreal, CA

A leading proprietary trading firm is seeking an Application Support Specialist to support mission-critical trading platforms and data workflows. This role combines production support, troubleshooting, deployment, and automation work within a fast-paced environment where technology directly impacts trading performance.

Requirements

3-5 years of experience in application support, production engineering, or software development
Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, multicast)
Experience supporting applications in Linux and/or Windows environments
Hands-on experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern web technologies
Experience using browser developer tools, DOM inspection, and web troubleshooting techniques
Ability to build and troubleshoot Regex patterns, work with JSON/JSONPath, and integrate with APIs
Exposure to Docker containers
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Ability to perform well under pressure in a real-time production environment

Preferred

Scripting experience with Python, PowerShell, or Bash
Experience supporting financial markets or trading applications
Familiarity with Ansible, Chef, or similar automation tools
Experience with Splunk, Grafana, Kibana, or comparable monitoring platforms
Exposure to web automation, data extraction, or scraping tools

Responsibilities

Provide production support for trading and market data applications
Monitor systems and proactively identify operational issues
Deploy, configure, and maintain software across production environments
Troubleshoot application, infrastructure, and networking issues in real time
Develop and maintain automation and data extraction tools utilizing HTML parsing, APIs, Regex, and JSON-based workflows
Partner with engineering and trading teams to improve platform reliability and operational efficiency

This is an hybrid position requiring 4 days per week of in person work in the firms Montreal office.
