Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Fabrication Supervisor to lead the growth of our expanding fabrication department. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on leader who is passionate about quality workmanship, mentoring skilled tradespeople, and building efficient manufacturing processes. The successful candidate will provide daily leadership while working alongside the team as the department grows, helping establish the standards, culture, and best practices that will support our continued success.
Reporting to: Advanced Manufacturing Manager
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, and support a team of fabricators while fostering a safe, productive, and collaborative work environment.
- Coordinate daily activities to meet production schedules and customer commitments.
- Assign work based on priorities, employee skills, and shop capacity.
- Work alongside the team as needed during the department's growth, leading by example while helping establish best practices, workflows, and standards.
- Interpret engineering drawings and provide technical guidance.
- Ensure all work meets customer specifications and company quality standards.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency through continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Project Management, Quality, and Production teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Expand department capabilities and advise on new equipment acquisitions.
- Support employee training, mentoring, and ongoing skill development.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills & Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in custom metal fabrication, with previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
- Proficiency with MIG welding steel and aluminum. TIG welding experience an asset.
- CNC Plasma cutting & waterjet machines.
- Knowledge of Fabrications for Special Machine and Automation Frames, Enclosures and Guarding, Machine and Fixture Bases.
- Problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to read blueprints and comprehend GD&T.
- Excellent reading comprehension skills.
- Attention to detail, workmanship, and neatness.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Education:
- Minimum High School diploma.
- Technical School Graduate or equivalent experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- CWB or other welding certifications or training an asset.
