Working closely with an experienced General Manager, the successful candidate will focus on developing employees, maintaining strong operational standards, delivering an exceptional guest experience, and supporting the continued growth of the property.

Position Overview

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Assistant General Manager will support the day-to-day management of hotel operations and provide leadership to employees across multiple departments.

The AGM will be expected to demonstrate a high level of integrity, professionalism, service and hospitality while ensuring employees have the training, direction and support required to succeed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise front desk employees, including assigning duties and following up on task completion
  • Supervise room attendants and support housekeeping operations
  • Assist with employee scheduling
  • Train, coach and develop front desk employees
  • Ensure room attendants receive appropriate training and support
  • Assist with recruitment and onboarding
  • Support regular team meetings and employee communication
  • Order operational supplies and materials as required
  • Help maximize revenue while effectively managing costs
  • Assist with accounts receivable, including credit applications, invoicing and collections
  • Develop a strong working relationship with the food and beverage operation
  • Monitor bus tours, room allocations, group rates, team bookings and conference accommodations
  • Assist with the ongoing maintenance and presentation of the property
  • Communicate hotel events and activities to relevant on-site partners
  • Support workplace safety and workers’ compensation matters
  • Complete additional duties as assigned by the General Manager

Ideal Candidate

  • Recognizes leadership potential in others and actively supports their development
  • Is comfortable addressing difficult situations when necessary
  • Demonstrates initiative, accountability and a strong desire to achieve results
  • Brings previous hotel experience, including at least two years in a supervisory position
  • Has post-secondary education in hotel or business management, considered an asset
  • Is legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Is open and able to relocate to Northern British Columbia
