Job Title: Housing Support Worker – Kindred Spirit

Job Type:Part-Time (guaranteed 20 hours per week)

1 Week 8 am - 4 pm

1 Week Mon & Fri 4 pm - 12 am, Tue, Wed & Thur 4 pm - 10 pm

Responsibilities:

Housing Support Workers are members of the Kindred Spirit team
and work together to provide housing supports for clients in a flexible,
compassionate, and responsible manner.

Qualifications:

· Experience in human services,
supported housing, or with persons with disabilities/addictions;

·
Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal
culture;

·
Must pass criminal record check and
vulnerable sector check;

·
Driver’s license;

·
Vehicle;

·
Excellent communication skills
(written and verbal);

·
Computer skills;

·
Ability to work independently;

·
Excellent time management skills;

Duties:

· Review
communications board, emails and log - books when coming on shift. Review on
callschedule;

· Be available to respond to client
needs and requests where reasonable in a friendly and courteous manner;

· Ensure property security alarms and
cameras are on and functional;

·
Assist Program Staff when requested,
to ensure safety of staff and residents;

· Responsible for maintaining clear and
concise logs of all unusual occurrences or suspicious activities;

·
Respond to accidents, contact EMS or
administer first aid/CPR as required;

·
Be available for community members for
mentorship and consultations;

·
Assist community members, guests,
employees during emergency situations;

·
Be aware of emergency procedures in
the event of the need for building evacuations;

· Notify appropriate individuals
(on-call staff, Supervisor, Manager) and/or Authorities in the event of
accidents, attacks, or other critical incidents;

· Maintain written and computerized
records, compile reports and complete other program documents (including case
notes, statistics, letters, etc.);

·
Transport clients in accordance with
established client transportation policies/protocols;

· Provide
culturally sensitive outreach, case management, and other needed services to clients;

· Provide individually tailored services
to each client, e.g., housing placement, independent living skills, appointment
escorts, home visits, family counselling;

· Aid clients in their homes and in the
community to allow them to participate safely and as independently as possible
with dignity and respect;

· Assist with building cleanliness and
safety- escorting any unwelcome persons from the property when safe to do so,
respond to incidents as needed and awareness of emergency procedures;

· Respond and notify appropriate
individuals (on-call staff, Supervisor, Manager) and/or Authorities in the
event of accidents, attacks, or other critical incidents and ensure critical incident reports are completed;

· Must have knowledge and understanding
of First Nation and Métis cultures; Must work respectfully within a diverse
environment and respect confidentiality;

· Hourly checks of
apartments of client apartments and support the families’ needs according to
their individual case plan;

·
Meal preparation as required;

·
Participate in/plan evening social and
cultural events with clients;

·
Participate in training offered
through the organization;

·
Must follow safety and security
policies at all times;

·
Maintain client confidentiality at all times;

·
Debrief with shift rotation;

·
Write clear and concise incident reports when necessary;

·
All other duties and responsibilities
as deemed necessary by management;

Probation: All YWCA Prince
Albert positions contain a three-month probation period.
