Reporting to the Supervisor – Asset Protection, Officer – CCTV is responsible for overseeing and managing closed- circuit television (CCTV) systems to enhance security measures and monitor activities across the mining site. This role involves monitoring live video feeds, reviewing recorded footage, and responding to security incidents to ensure protection of personnel, property, and assets.

Location: Blackwater Mine Site

Schedule: Two (2) Weeks On - Two (2) Weeks Off Rotation

Demonstrate effective safety leadership by addressing and enforcing BW Golds safety standards, procedures, and safety systems.

Monitor live video feeds from CCTV cameras stationed at various locations across the mining site to detect and deter unauthorized access, suspicious activities, or security breaches.

Review recorded footage and archival data to investigate security incidents, accidents, or safety violations, providing evidence and documentation as needed for internal investigations or law enforcement agencies.

Operate and maintain CCTV equipment, including cameras, monitors, recording devices, and software application, ensuring optimal performance and functionality at all times.

Conduct routine inspections and checks of CCTV systems to identify and address technical issues, malfunctions, or equipment failures promptly, coordinating with technical support or maintenance personnel for repairs or replacements.

Badging of personnel and operating the access control system.

  • Security observations and asset protection within the Gold Room as assigned
  • Perform searches on personnel, at worksites or accommodations as assigned
  • Assist with traffic management or traffic control if needed
  • Operate the emergency response dispatch system

Diploma in Security Management or Asset Protection required.

  • 5-7 years of Security experience at a mine site.
  • Certification in security management, surveillance operations, or related fields preferred.

Previous experience in security operations, surveillance monitoring, or law enforcement roles, with knowledge of CCTV systems and security technologies.

Proficient in operating CCTV equipment and software applications, including digital video recorders (DVRs) video management systems (VMS) and networked surveillance cameras.

  • Valid Class 5 license required.
  • Ability to work night shift as required.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
  • Attention to detail and ability to distinguish security risk trends.

Strong attention to detail and observational skills, with the ability to maintain focus and vigilance while monitoring multiple video feeds and screens.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with colleagues, supervisors, and external stakeholders.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively as part of a team, in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Sound judgment, decision-making abilities, and problem-solving skills to assess security threats, prioritize tasks, and respond appropriately to incidents or emergencies.

  • Ability to work at a remote location camp on a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off rotation.

Comfortable working and living in close quarters with the team

Ability to maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shift

  • Ability to lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift
