Job Description:The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible to the Manager. As an interdisciplinary team member the Speech Language Pathologist is required to assess, diagnose and treat clients with communication and/or swallowing disorders. "Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement"

Experience

Previous supervisory experience preferred
Two (2) years experience in Acute Care
Experience with provision and monitoring of voice prosthesis is preferred
Experience to assess and treat head/neck cancer related disorders preferred

Education

Master of Speech Language Pathology (SLP)

Other Education and Training

Current CPR certification

Knowledge and Abilities

Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
Can design, conduct, evaluate educational training to various targeted audiences
Skilled in assess./therapeutic interventions for adult speech/lang. disorders
Knowledge & experience of diagnostic instruments: MBS and FEES (once trained)
Ability to meet multiple demands, manage complex clinical issues and workload.
Ability to mentor, train, supervise SLPs and support personnel
Requires coping skills to work w/clients dealing with stress/psychosocial issues
