Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced DevOps / Cloud Engineer to support enterprise application modernization, middleware administration, cloud infrastructure automation, and production operations within a large-scale government environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, implementing, automating, and supporting Azure cloud infrastructure and enterprise middleware platforms while ensuring high availability, security, and operational excellence.

The consultant will be responsible for infrastructure automation, CI/CD implementation, middleware upgrades, production support, disaster recovery planning, and knowledge transfer throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure & Cloud Engineering

  • Design, implement, and maintain Azure cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning using Terraform, Ansible, and Packer.
  • Build and maintain containerized deployments using Docker and OpenShift.
  • Configure Azure networking components including Application Gateway, Load Balancers, and Firewall rules.
  • Support cloud migration and environment modernization initiatives.

Middleware Administration

  • Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and administer:
  • Oracle WebLogic Server 12c
  • IBM WebSphere Application Server 9
  • Informatica PowerCenter 10

Perform middleware refreshes and environment upgrades.
Troubleshoot middleware performance and availability issues.
Configure clustered middleware environments.

DevOps & Automation

  • Develop automation scripts for infrastructure deployment and configuration management.
  • Implement Git-based source control using GitFlow branching strategy.
  • Practice GitOps methodologies for infrastructure management.
  • Build immutable infrastructure using Terraform, Ansible, and Packer.
  • Promote solutions across Development, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and Production environments.

Operations & Production Support

  • Provide 24×7 production support for enterprise middleware and applications.
  • Perform incident, change, and problem management activities.
  • Monitor application performance and system health.
  • Conduct log analysis and root cause investigations.
  • Perform capacity planning and resource utilization analysis.
  • Support backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity initiatives.
  • Assist with performance tuning and optimization.

Project Support

  • Review and refine technical designs.
  • Support application integration and data migration activities.
  • Assist QA teams during testing phases.
  • Provide stabilization support following production deployment.
  • Produce technical documentation and operational runbooks.
  • Deliver knowledge transfer sessions to internal teams.

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in enterprise systems administration, middleware, and infrastructure technologies.
  • Minimum 10 years supporting:
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
  • UNIX Solaris
  • Mainframe IMS Connect
  • Enterprise system software and system tools

Minimum 10 years administering:

  • Oracle WebLogic 12c
  • IBM WebSphere 9
  • Informatica PowerCenter 10

Minimum 5 years implementing Azure DevOps and cloud automation solutions.
