Role overview

High School Math & Science Tutor (Grades 9-12)

Do you love helping teens feel capable, confident, and less overwhelmed in challenging courses like Grade 12 Biology and Chemistry?

Oxford Learning North York – Lawrence Plaza is looking for a supportive, knowledgeable High School Math & Science Tutor who combines strong STEM skills with excellent oral communication and a genuine passion for working with students.

This is more than just content delivery — it’s about helping students believe they can succeed.
Who You Are

You’re someone who:

Explains complex Math and Science concepts clearly and patiently

-

Has strong knowledge of Grades 9–12 Math,

-

Communicates confidently and professionally

-

Builds rapport easily and makes students feel comfortable asking questions

-

Understands that encouragement and mindset matter just as much as marks

You enjoy seeing the “lightbulb moment” — and you know how to guide students there.
Required Availability

-

-

Monday–Thursday: 3:30 PM – 8:00 PM

-

Saturday: 9:30 AM – 2:00 PM

A consistent weekly schedule is required.
Qualifications

Education

-

Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field

-

Fourth-year university students with strong tutoring experience welcome

-

OCT certification is an asset

Experience & Skills

-

Experience tutoring or teaching high school Math and Science

-

Strong proficiency in senior-level Biology and Chemistry

-

Comfortable guiding up to 3 students at a time

-

Strong interpersonal skills and natural leadership presence

Your Role at Oxford Learning

As an Interactive Coach, you will:

Work one-on-one and in small groups (up to 3 students)

-

Use our structured, pre-designed curriculum (no lesson planning required)

Help students prepare for tests, exams, and post-secondary expectations

-

Provide feedback and encouragement after each session

Create a calm, motivating environment where students feel safe to learn
