Senior Front End Software Developer

Job Summary:

The Senior Front End Software Developer will specialize in customizing and extending ESRI-based GIS web mapping applications. This role involves developing user-centric, accessible interfaces using modern JavaScript frameworks, integrating GIS services, and collaborating with project teams to deliver tailored GIS solutions aligned with client requirements.
Responsibilities:

• Customize and develop GIS web mapping applications using VertiGIS Studio Web SDK, Geocortex Viewer for HTML5 SDK, and ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript.
• Build and deploy customized GIS viewers and tools to meet end-user needs.
• Integrate workflows and external services within ESRI-based map viewers and applications.
• Develop responsive and accessible user interfaces compliant with AODA and WCAG 2.0 Level AA standards.
• Collaborate effectively with project teams to achieve goals and deliverables.
• Consume and interpret GIS services through ArcGIS REST API, ArcGIS Server, and ArcGIS Portal.
• Manage user roles, permissions, and application deployment within the ESRI ecosystem.

Required Skills:

• Proficiency with VertiGIS Studio Web SDK, Geocortex Viewer for HTML5 SDK, and ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript.
• Strong JavaScript/TypeScript skills and experience with modern frameworks such as React.
• Experience with ESRI application builders including VertiGIS Studio, Geocortex Essentials, ESRI Experience Builder, and Web AppBuilder.
• Knowledge of ArcGIS REST API, ArcGIS Server, and ArcGIS Portal administration and integration.
• Ability to develop accessible web UI components compliant with AODA and WCAG 2.0 Level AA.
• Experience working independently and collaboratively in project teams.

Desired Skills:

• Experience with SDK customization and web mapping development beyond core ESRI platforms.
• Familiarity with user roles and permission management in GIS applications.
• Experience in delivering solutions within complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
• Prior exposure to public sector projects, specifically within the Ontario Public Service or similar organizations.
