Job Description:Reporting to the Manager or designate for the area of province they are working, the Emergency Medical Services - EMT/PCP responds to emergency and non-emergency events, and provides assessment, treatment and transportation of the ill or injured persons consistent with The Saskatchewan Ambulance Act and Regulations; Saskatchewan College of Paramedics (SCoP) Clinical Practice Protocols; The Paramedics Act and bylaws; and Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) policies, procedures and work standards.

Education

  • Primary Care Paramedic Certificate from an approved educational institute

Licenses

  • Valid Class 4 driver's license

Other Education and Training

  • International Trauma Life Support Certificate (ITLS)
  • Current CPR certification
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support Certificate (BCLS)

  • Able to safely and consistently lift/load stretcher on a regular basis

  • Demonstrates the ability to be resourceful and to adapt to changing conditions
  • Physically able to perform the duties of pre-hospital emergency care

  • Conflict resolution skills to effectively handle difficult issues

  • Registered/eligible with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics at PCP/EMT level
  • Scheduled hours of work may be reduced when a statutory holiday is recognized
