Role overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-focused Shop Rigging & Fall Protection Inspector to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, testing, and certifying rigging and basic fall arrest equipment to ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. This role is critical in maintaining safe working environments for both our team and our customers.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct thorough inspections of rigging equipment, including slings, shackles, hooks, chains, wire rope, and lifting devices
Perform basic inspections of fall arrest equipment, including harnesses, lanyards, lifelines, connectors, and anchor points
Identify wear, damage, and non-compliance in accordance with applicable standards (e.g., ASME, CSA, ANSI, OSHA as applicable)
Complete accurate inspection reports and documentation using company systems
Tag, label, and certify equipment as required following companies processes
Recommend repair, replacement, or removal from service when necessary
Maintain inspection tools and ensure calibration is up to date
Support field inspections and on-site customer evaluations
Communicate findings and safety concerns clearly to customers and/or internal teams
Ship inspected product to vendor or customer as required
Support other departments in HRR as required
Follow all company safety policies and procedures
Qualifications & Requirements
Previous experience in rigging inspection, lifting equipment, or related mechanical field preferred
Basic knowledge or experience with fall arrest systems and height safety equipment an asset
Familiarity with relevant inspection standards and regulations
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and inspection criteria
Proficient with basic computer systems and reporting tools
Valid driver’s license
Certifications (Preferred but not required)
Fall Protection / Fall Arrest Competent Person certification
Manufacturer-specific inspection training (DBI-SALA, MSA, etc.) considered an asset
First Aid / CPR certification
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Comfortable working in industrial environments (construction sites, plants, yards)
Ability to stand, bend, climb, and perform repetitive tasks
In accordance with the provincial wage transparency requirements, the expected base compensation for this position is $20-25/hr (or more) depending on relevant experience, technical competencies, certifications, etc.
