Role overview

Job Summary:This role is to assist the Human Resources department in day to day activities and Environmental Health and Safety tasks in a manufacturing environment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a University or College degree in Human Resources
  • Strong communicator in the English language, both written and verbal
  • Proficient in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills

Critical Success Factors:

  • Learn the business, understand the production process by walking the floor & participating in production meetings
  • Ability to work independently without supervision and with minimum direction
  • Ability to work in a team environment and be both a team player and team leader
  • Ability to manage and direct subordinates on the day-to-day tasks in a fast paced environment
  • Adopt a common sense approach to identifying and addressing problems and control weaknesses
  • Ensure that all duties and tasks are carried out in a safe and efficient manner and at no time is the employee or their co-workers placed in an unsafe condition

Responsibilities:

  • Must work in accordance with Health & Safety regulations, Martinrea Industrial Canada rules, policies and procedures
  • Must use or wear equipment, protective devices or clothing as required by Martinrea Industrial Canada
  • Help maintain HRIS; enter new hires, process pay changes, etc.
  • Help with recruitment activities of all personnel
  • Help track employee headcount/manning
  • Organize employee events and activities at site level
  • Maintain training records for all employees
  • Help employees with questions and concerns regarding but not limited to hourly pay, benefits, health and safety
  • Help maintain employee communication boards
  • Abide by all Company polices including, but not limited to the following; Health and safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, and the Martinrea Employee Handbook
  • Must understand the six elements of the Quality System, Record Retention, Document Control, Non-conforming Material, Corrective Action, Preventative Action and internal audits as well as department procedures.

Working Conditions

  • Both office setting and production environment
  • Constant communication with employees, peers, and management

Effort/Physical Demands

  • Ability to work on computer for long periods of time
  • Ability to be present on the production floor on a daily basis

Health and Safety Responsibilities

  • Must work in accordance with Health and Safety regulations, Company Rules, Plant Rules, policies and procedures
  • Must use or wear personal protective equipment and certain clothing as required by the Company
