Role overview
Job Summary:This role is to assist the Human Resources department in day to day activities and Environmental Health and Safety tasks in a manufacturing environment.
Required Qualifications:
- Pursuing a University or College degree in Human Resources
- Strong communicator in the English language, both written and verbal
- Proficient in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills
Critical Success Factors:
- Learn the business, understand the production process by walking the floor & participating in production meetings
- Ability to work independently without supervision and with minimum direction
- Ability to work in a team environment and be both a team player and team leader
- Ability to manage and direct subordinates on the day-to-day tasks in a fast paced environment
- Adopt a common sense approach to identifying and addressing problems and control weaknesses
- Ensure that all duties and tasks are carried out in a safe and efficient manner and at no time is the employee or their co-workers placed in an unsafe condition
Responsibilities:
- Must work in accordance with Health & Safety regulations, Martinrea Industrial Canada rules, policies and procedures
- Must use or wear equipment, protective devices or clothing as required by Martinrea Industrial Canada
- Help maintain HRIS; enter new hires, process pay changes, etc.
- Help with recruitment activities of all personnel
- Help track employee headcount/manning
- Organize employee events and activities at site level
- Maintain training records for all employees
- Help employees with questions and concerns regarding but not limited to hourly pay, benefits, health and safety
- Help maintain employee communication boards
- Abide by all Company polices including, but not limited to the following; Health and safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, and the Martinrea Employee Handbook
- Must understand the six elements of the Quality System, Record Retention, Document Control, Non-conforming Material, Corrective Action, Preventative Action and internal audits as well as department procedures.
Working Conditions
- Both office setting and production environment
- Constant communication with employees, peers, and management
Effort/Physical Demands
- Ability to work on computer for long periods of time
- Ability to be present on the production floor on a daily basis
