New Age Services Inc. is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Community Disability Practitioner to support individuals with diverse abilities and complex support needs in the Calgary community. Who You'll Be Supporting
You will work directly with individuals who may experience:
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Developmental Disabilities
Mental Health Challenges
Schizophrenia
Complex Behaviours
Substance Use (Harm Reduction Approach)
Trauma Histories
Communication Barriers
Medically Fragile Conditions
Our approach is person-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive, ensuring every individual is treated with dignity, respect, and choice.
Key Responsibilities
Support individuals with daily living activities, recreation, employment goals, and community participation.
Implement and monitor individualized service plans.
Respond to behavioural and emotional needs using person-centered and trauma-informed approaches.
Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with agency policies and provincial regulations.
Collaborate with families, guardians, healthcare professionals, and interdisciplinary teams.
Promote independence, self-advocacy, and quality of life.
Non-Negotiable Requirements
To be considered for this role, candidates must:
Possess a valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License.
Have access to a reliable vehicle with a minimum of $2,000,000 liability insurance by the time of hire.
Be comfortable swimming or willing to enter a pool while wearing a life jacket to support individuals during aquatic activities.
Be comfortable working around pets and animals, including dogs and cats, in home and community settings.
What You Bring
Diploma or Degree in Disability Studies, Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Internationally completed education may require a WES or IQAS assessment.
Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities is considered an asset.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Current certifications in First Aid/CPR, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI), APRP, Medication Administration, Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), Food Safety, or related Human Services training (or willingness to obtain).
Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search (or willingness to obtain).
Intermediate computer skills.
