Role overview

As a Senior Software Engineer reporting to the Sr. Director of Software Development, you'll play a critical role in building the next generation of market data streaming products that empower clients around the world to meet their data and trading needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deliver scalable software solutions that power real-time data platforms for global markets.
  • Build and optimize APIs and data processing pipelines for high-volume, distributed, and multi-tenant systems.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams across Bangalore, Toronto, and other global locations to align on architecture and delivery.
  • Contribute to platform strategy by defining technical specifications and participating in early-stage product and platform decisions.
  • Stay ahead of technology trends and bring innovative thinking to the design and evolution of data streaming products.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong focus on Core Java.
  • Proven experience with cloud-native architectures, containerized applications, and distributed systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and deploy production-grade systems using microservices and container orchestration platforms.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with stream processing and event-driven technologies such as Apache Kafka or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with parallel computing or stream processing frameworks.
  • Experience working in high-volume, low-latency, and highly available system environments.

This position will be located in Toronto, Canada, and offers the opportunity for a hybrid work environment at least 3 days a week in-office, subject to change, providing flexibility and accessibility for qualified candidates.

The base pay range for this role is $121,000 - $170,000. In addition to base salary, Nasdaq provides a generous annual bonus/commission (short-term incentive), and equity (long-term incentive), comprehensive benefits, and opportunity for growth. Exact compensation may vary based on several job-related factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to: skill set, experience, education/training, business needs and market demands.
