About the Position

Super 8 by Wyndham Red Deer is seeking an experienced Hotel Maintenance Technician to oversee the maintenance and repair of our hotel facilities.

This position is intended for applicants with previous hotel, commercial building, or property maintenance experience who can work independently and respond efficiently to maintenance issues.

Only experienced applicants will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance throughout the hotel.
  • Diagnose and repair plumbing, electrical, drywall, carpentry, painting, and flooring issues.
  • Repair doors, locks, furniture, windows, fixtures, and guest room equipment.
  • Troubleshoot HVAC systems and mechanical equipment.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from hotel staff.
  • Maintain boilers, water systems, and other building systems.
  • Complete routine inspections of guest rooms and public areas.
  • Perform seasonal exterior maintenance, including snow removal when required.
  • Coordinate with contractors when specialized repairs are needed.
  • Maintain maintenance logs and inventory of supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with health, fire, and safety regulations.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of hotel, commercial building, apartment, or property maintenance experience.
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall repair, painting, and general building maintenance.
  • Ability to troubleshoot maintenance issues independently.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence preferred.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs (23 kg) and perform physically demanding work.
  • Availability to work weekends and be on call for emergency repairs when required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hotel maintenance experience.
  • Experience with HVAC systems.
  • Basic knowledge of boilers and water heaters.
  • Experience using maintenance management systems.
  • WHMIS certification is an asset.
