Role overview

CHIMO: Where What You Do Matters for A Lifetime.

Can you hold a room, make people feel welcome, and help with a housing application at the drop-in help desk, all in the same afternoon?

Leaving care at 18 often means facing rent, jobs, bills and loneliness all at once. Chimo's new Youth in Transition (YIT) Program is a place young adults aged 18 to 24 can come for the skills, information and people that make it easier. We're looking for Program Facilitators to make it a place they want to come back to.

Think of the program as a weekly menu of drop-in sessions: a hands-on housing application walkthrough, an honest conversation about substance use and harm reduction, a workshop on healthy relationships and boundaries, practice job interviews, a tax clinic, a ribbon skirt circle. There's food at every session and a help desk six days a week. We open in December.

FT and Casual Includes some evenings and some Saturdays

What you'll do

Plan and lead group sessions young adults actually want to come to
Welcome people at the door, share food, and check in
Staff the help desk: forms, phone calls, applications, next steps
Become the team's Champion in one area: housing, employment and education, financial literacy, health and wellness, or culture and identity

What you bring

A diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, or a related human services field
At least a year of leading groups, workshops or programs with youth or young adults
Warmth, steadiness, and a sense of humour
Lived experience of care or of the transition to adulthood? That's an asset here.

Good to know: You'll need clear Intervention Record and Police Information (Vulnerable Sector) checks. We provide the training you'll need before you start working with young adults. Driving is an asset, not a requirement.

Job opening remains until suitable applicant is found.
