Role overview
Description of the company:
An established architecture practice with a broad portfolio across commercial, corporate, and institutional work. The team is stable and has grown steadily over the years, with a strong bench of in-house designers and technical staff. This group has a busy and growing stream of office interior projects, which is where this role sits.
Why is this role open:
Their office interior fit-out and retrofit work has picked up over the past while, both for private clients and public-sector ones. They have enough of these projects lined up that they need another project manager to take some of them on and keep things moving.
Responsibilities:
- Run office interior fit-out and retrofit projects from design development through permit, tendering, and construction administration.
- Work directly in Revit. You will be in the drawings yourself, not just overseeing them.
- Act as the client-facing lead on your projects and coordinate closely with contractors.
- Work alongside the in-house interior design team. They handle materials, furniture, and layout, while you drive the drawing set and the technical delivery.
- Prepare permit and tender documentation and make permit applications.
- Supervise one to three staff on a given project.
- Manage the project budget. Track the hours, check burn rate with accounting, and report progress periodically.
- Carry a couple of projects at once depending on their size. You would start with one and scale up as you settle in.
Must-haves:
- Around 10 years of experience in architecture, with a focus on interior fit-out or retrofit, or comparable technical project delivery.
- Strong Revit skills.
- Solid technical grounding, including detailing, building envelope basics, and assembling a full set for permit and tender.
- Comfortable running a project end to end and dealing directly with clients and contractors.
- An architecture background rather than pure interior design, so you are at home with base-building work like slabs, ductwork, and fire separations.
- Strong written and oral communication.
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience supervising junior staff.
- Exposure to government projects.
- OAA license.
Work style: In office, four days per week minimum. Five is welcome.
Compensation: Base salary in the range of $85,000 to $98,000, depending on experience.
