Role overview

NOVEL veterinary clinic is hiring a full-time Veterinarian

· Location: 561 Brant Street, Burlington, ON L7R 2G6

· Term: Full time, 40 hours/week, permanent

· Work Schedule: The position is based on rotating 12-hour shifts. The Veterinarian will normally work a schedule consisting of three to four shifts per week (averaging 40 hours per week), including weekdays, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays, depending on clinic operational requirements.

· Salary: $165,000 per year

· Vacation: 9 vacation days / 6% of vacation pay

· Language: English

· Number of positions: 1

· Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible

Main Duties and Responsibilities

· Examine, diagnose, and treat companion animals, primarily dogs and cats.

· Provide preventive and wellness care, including routine health examinations, vaccinations, and parasite prevention.

· Prescribe and administer medications and treatment plans for various medical conditions.

· Collect and analyze laboratory samples, including blood, urine, and tissue samples, and interpret diagnostic results.

· Perform routine and surgical procedures in accordance with veterinary standards.

· Develop individualized treatment and wellness plans to support long-term pet health.

· Educate pet owners on nutrition, behaviour, disease prevention, hygiene, and general pet care.

· Communicate medical findings and treatment recommendations clearly and compassionately to clients.

· Collaborate with veterinary nurses and other team members to provide high-quality patient care.

· Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with professional and regulatory standards.

· Support the clinic's focus on accessible, preventive, and relationship-based veterinary care.

Job Requirements for the position are:

· Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree with at least 2 years of experience

· Provincial Veterinary full license for Ontario (College of Veterinarians of Ontario)

· Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive, friendly attitude

· Ability to practice a high standard of medicine, upholding the veterinary code of ethics

· Ability to work independently, without supervision

· Ability to make decisions and communicate clearly and effectively with fellow team members and to the clients

· Have professional comportment and appearance

· Have the ability to always keep the welfare of the pet in the forefront and treat all animals with gentleness and compassion

· Have respect for and willingness to work with clients and their pets
