Robotics Maintenance Technician
Client: Confidential (Leading Healthcare Company)
Our client is implementing automated warehouse fulfillment technology at a Canadian pharmaceutical distribution site. This role utilizes AI-powered robotics to enhance pharmaceutical logistics, applying cutting-edge robotics and automation platforms to the healthcare supply space.
Position Details
- Location: Montreal facility located in Montréal-Est, QC H1B OC8.
- Contract Type: Must be T4. The anticipated contract duration is through Dec 31st with an expected extension.
- Hours: Average of 42 hours per week.
- Shift Options: 12-hour shifts. The day shift runs 7a-7p. The night shift runs 7p-7a.
- Shift Pattern: 3 days on, 3 days off, 2 days on, 3 days off.
- Language Requirements: Fluent English and intermediate conversational French are required. An exception can be made for candidates with perfect robotics experience who only speak English.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Provide first response to engineering fault conditions, handling both reactive and planned maintenance activities.
- Carry out electrical and mechanical planned maintenance across the site in an accurate, timely, and safe manner while ensuring maintenance procedures are followed.
- React to material handling equipment (MHE) breakdowns (both mechanical and electrical), performing trouble-shooting to identify the fault, analyze the issue, and complete the fix to keep downtime to a minimum.
- Perform assembly and subassembly repairs by following written work instructions, blueprints, and schematics.
- Monitor the real-time status of both the robots and the physical grid.
- Update accurate records such as work activities, tasks carried out, and parts used through stores.
- Work closely with other Maintenance Technicians to find ways to increase machine reliability on existing and new equipment.
- Perform daily housekeeping and cleaning duties of equipment.
- Complete quality inspections to ensure work is completed to a safe standard.
- Follow all Health and Safety guidance.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant career experience carrying out electrical or mechanical maintenance, with 2+ years being ideal.
- Experience diagnosing and documenting equipment breakdowns, resolving issues, and handling repairs.
- College degree, trade school, or advanced training in Maintenance.
- Some technical ability and understanding relating to automation hardware and software would be preferred.
- Sound analytical skills with an eye for detail; good problem-solving ability and a practical approach.
- Numerate and PC literate including Word, Excel, etc..
- Must be comfortable working at heights.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, able to impart knowledge effectively to others.
- Good organization skills and the ability to prioritize.
- Flexible to working a shift-based pattern including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Anyone with authorization to work in Canada is eligible; candidates do not need to be Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents.
- Candidates will need to clear a basic background check. No drug test is required.
Work Environment and Training
- Environment: Since this is in a healthcare setting, the facility is temperature-controlled and very clean. It is much cleaner than most manufacturing or warehousing environments.
- Training: New contractors will go through a formal on-the-job, fully paid training program including a mix of hands-on training, classroom training, and computer-based training.
- Dress Code: Steel toe shoes are 100% required. Most Maintenance Technicians wear jeans and t-shirts or sweatshirts.
