TITLE:Account Director – Retail & New Business Development

LOCATION:Scarborough, ON Hybrid as needed

COMP RANGE:CAD $110,000 to $140,000 annually

Compensation is determined based on experience, qualifications & internal equity.

Griffith Foods is hiring an Account Director to lead business development to retailers & food manufacturers. In this newly created role, you will build a strong pipeline, convert strategic opportunities, and partner cross-functionally to deliver differentiated, customer-centric solutions. You will also acquire new customers and expand existing opportunities with retail and food manufacturing customers, aligned with Griffith Foods’ capabilities and values.

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape a new whitespace growth area for Griffith Foods. Our strategy is focused on expanding our presence in the retail sector while accelerating customer acquisition across the broader Food Manufacturing landscape.

In this role, you will be at the forefront of driving growth—building new customer relationships, deepening strategic partnerships, and uncovering opportunities to bring value-added culinary and ingredient solutions to market. You'll play a pivotal role in unlocking new revenue streams, influencing commercial strategy, and accelerating growth across both established and emerging accounts.

TheAccount Director – Retail & Food Manufacturers position is well-suited for you if you are a:

Customer-Centric Solution Builder who partner closely with customers to understand their business challenges and develop innovative solutions that create mutual growth and long-term value.

Strategic Business Developer who leverages a deep understanding of Retail and Food Manufacturing markets to identify whitespace opportunities, develop go-to-market strategies, and expand Griffith Foods’ presence with new customers and channels.

Consultative Influencer who demonstrates proven success in consultative selling, effectively engaging and influencing senior decision-makers while managing complex customer relationships.

Commercially Driven Collaborator who thrives in a cross-functional environment, partnering with R&D, Marketing, Operations, and Finance to deliver customized solutions while optimizing pricing, value, and profitability.

Data-Driven Growth Leader who uses market intelligence, customer insights, and analytics to prioritize opportunities, manage pipeline health, improve forecasting accuracy, and drive sustainable business growth.

Qualified candidates will have:

-

Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing or a related area.

-

At least 7 years of progressive sales experience, within the Retail Sales, Foodservice Sales, food ingredients, or CPG industry.

-

Previous experience in business development, filling the “white space” in the market

-

Willingness and ability to travel occasionally, within Canada.

-

Current location within a commutable distance to Scarborough, ON.

-

Willingness to work onsite in Scarborough 2-3 days/week when not with customers, and when needed to support leadership meetings and other business needs.
The entire Scarborough team comes into the office for cross-functional interactions for 3 days (Tues – Thurs.) at the end of each month.

What will set you apart:

Previous experience in new business development

-

Previous experience serving the foodservice or retail industry

Experience selling in B2B food industry environments, including foodservice and/or retail.

MBA or master’s degree in business, marketing or related field.

This role is eligible for a sales incentive plan, with a target of 25%, based on performance and not guaranteed.
