Job Description

NAIT’s Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) program prepares students to install, maintain and repair stationary industrial equipment and mechanical equipment. Students will be instructed on fitting bearings, aligning gears, and shafts, attaching motors and connecting couplings and belts to precise tolerances, and much more such as the service and repair of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

The Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) program at our Main campus is currently recruiting for continuous instructors who are energetic leaders, committed to student success, and have outstanding communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. The successful candidates will:

Have strong technical knowledge

Be able to work both independently and within a team environment

Bring passion, enthusiasm, and ideas that will positively contribute to the advancement and growth of the program and the culture of our collaborative and dynamic team

Key Responsibilities

-

Prepare and present learning outcomes and activities in a classroom, laboratory and industry setting

-

Participate in curriculum development, program reviews and course reviews

-

Facilitate the learning process by utilizing instructional strategies that ensure efficient and effective delivery of course materials

-

Manage instructional delivery on-line and in a face to face environment while setting the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environment

-

Create assessment tools to evaluate the learning process and maintain progress records

-

Provide early and on-going coaching and tutoring for students to maximize student success and retention

-

Respond to student issues

-

Utilize appropriate educational technology for presentations, communications and program promotions

-

Maintenance and/or submission of program/student records accurately and promptly

-

Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students, colleagues, and industry partners

-

Actively participate in the strategies of NAIT 2021, NAIT’s Strategic Plan and NAIT’s Academic Plan as identified by the institute

-

Utilize regular student feedback to identify and implement instructional improvement

-

Improve the quality of instruction through professional development activities

-

Other duties as assigned

Skills & Abilities

-

Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive, respectful relationships with diverse learners and colleagues

-

A strong commitment to student success, including motivating learners and supporting academic achievement

-

Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, suitable for instructional, advisory, and collaborative settings

-

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and related educational technologies

Qualifications

-

High School Diploma

-

Completion of a related Alberta Journeyperson certificate or provincial equivalent including Inter-Provincial Red Seal an asset

-

Minimum 5 years recent industry experience after completion of Journeyperson certificate.

Teaching experience an asset

Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services (WES), International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) or the Comparative Education Services (CES).

Remuneration

Will commensurate with education and experience. Refer to salary range noted on this posting, plus a comprehensive benefits package. Note: starting salary for new instructor hires average mid-range based on education and experience.

Classification – Instructor

This position is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement.

The compensation range for this job posting is: $69,189.78 - $120,361.23
