Quality Assurance Automation Developer

Rate: CAD 40 to 60 per our

Term: 12 Months + optional 24-months extension

Location: Work must be done within Canada (Primarily remote; occasional on‐site meetings in Edmonton with reasonable notice).

We are seeking a QA Automation Developer to support cross-functional program review and product delivery teams. The successful candidate will collaborate with researchers, designers, developers, product owners, and business stakeholders throughout the delivery lifecycle, including discovery, backlog refinement, sprint planning, testing, and release.

The QA Automation Developer will lead quality assurance activities for digital transformation initiatives, ensuring that services are reliable, secure, scalable, and aligned with user and business needs. Responsibilities will include:

Developing and maintaining test strategies, plans, cases, scenarios, test data, environments, and tools.
Designing and executing functional, system, integration, regression, performance, load, and security testing.
Creating, maintaining, and coordinating automated test suites to support rapid and frequent releases.
Promoting quality practices such as code linting, test coverage, Behavior-Driven Development and Test-Driven Development.
Supporting reusable testing components, test databases, and the use of artificial intelligence in testing.
Defining service-quality metrics and automating the collection, reporting, and presentation of test results and quality artifacts.
Continuously adapting testing approaches and deliverables as user needs, business priorities, designs, and technical solutions evolve.

The role requires a strong focus on embedding quality throughout the product delivery process rather than treating testing as a final-stage activity.

Must Have

Experience with coding and developing new testing automation scripts with CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
Experience creating and modifying automation test scripts
Experience preparing or supporting the preparation of automation test plans and automation test cases.
Experience using automation testing frameworks.
Experience with GitHub.
Experience with load testing, performance testing, security testing and/or end-to-end testing.

Nice to Have

Experience with API testing.
Experience with automation tools Cypress or Playwright
Experience with Cucumber and/or Gherkin.
Experience with establishing and gathering automation testing metrics.
Experience with implementing QA automation standards within an organization.
Experience with Jira Xray.
Experience with User Acceptance Testing processes on large, complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
