The role involves
Dispatch & Logistics
- Technician Scheduling: Coordinate, schedule, and dispatch a fleet of approximately 18 low voltage field technicians daily.
- Knowledge of Field Management Software: Stratus51 Utilizes Jobber to assign tickets, track job progress, and update schedules in real time.
- Work Order Review: Review and audit field technician notes, photos, and job attachments within Jobber before closing out files to ensure accurate project completion.
- On-Site Delivery: Transport structured cabling, fiber spools, and racking equipment directly to client job sites.
- Rush Pickups: Drive to local distributors or vendors to retrieve critical inventory for immediate, time-sensitive site deployment.
- Driver & Team Communication: Maintain clear, real-time communication with field technicians and project managers to ensure on-time delivery of essential supplies.
- Documentation: Prepare and review all shipping documents, packing slips, and delivery manifests.
Updated Key Qualifications
- Industry Knowledge: The ideal candidate will have a general working knowledge of the low voltage sector and be familiar with Category 5e, 6, 6a and fibre optic cabling and termination equipment, CCTV, Access Control and intrusion parts
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency with Jobber or comparable Field Service Management (FSM) platforms, Microsoft Office (Proficient knowledge Word and Excel is key to this role) and use of barcode scanners
- Dispatching Skills: Proven ability to manage a medium-sized fleet (15+ techs), prioritize urgent service tickets, and handle high-volume communications.
- Attention to Detail: Strong reading comprehension skills to review and verify technician notes for compliance, billing accuracy, and project scope.
- Driving Record: Valid driver’s license with a clean commercial or personal driving abstract.
- Experience: 1–3 years of experience in warehouse operations, logistics, or dispatching—ideally within the telecommunications, electrical, or low voltage industry.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and physically navigate a busy warehouse environment, including operating forklifts or pallet jacks.
- Safety & Compliance: Strict adherence to warehouse safety standards, proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) policies, and material handling guidelines.
Candidate must be fluent in English. Speaking French is a bonus but not a requirement.
Job is located in Ottawa.
